Professor Andy Levers from the University of Liverpool was presented with his OBE by HRH The Prince of Wales at a special investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle.

Recognised in the 2025 New Year Honours list, Professor Levers received the honour for his outstanding contributions to industry and the economy, particularly in driving productivity and economic impact through digital innovation.

As Executive Director of the University’s Institute of Digital Engineering and Autonomous Systems (IDEAS), as well as its subsidiaries the Digital Innovation Facility (DIF) and the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC), Professor Levers has championed collaboration between academia and industry. His work has focused on advancing manufacturing and digital technologies to foster business growth and support regional economic development.

He has played a leading role in enhancing research and innovation across the Liverpool City Region, spearheading major cross sector business support programmes such as the Liverpool City Region Horizons initiative and the ERDF-funded LCR 4.0 projects. These efforts have supported more than 800 businesses, generated £275 million in gross value added (GVA), and created over 2,300 jobs.

On receiving his honour, Professor Levers said: “It was wonderful to receive this honour at Windsor Castle. I’d like to thank everyone I’ve worked with over the years—including our partner organisations, the businesses we’ve supported, and my family, whose support and encouragement has been invaluable.”
