The gaming industry is a multi-billion-pound industry that demonstrates rapid growth in popularity and sales. This has led to a huge increase in the need for unique development and visualisation skills such as coding and programming. These hard and soft transferable skills include animation, design and creativity.

Who is the Virtual Engineering Centre?
The VEC is a leading digital engineering centre, utilising the latest in emerging digital tools and technologies to support businesses and industries on their digital transformation journeys. We have collaborated with the likes of Meta, Epic games, Airbus, Bentley, Jaguar Land Rover and more, using visualisation tools for developing new products and improving systems and processes.

We use a combination of off-the-shelf tools, experience and unique capabilities for delivering digital solutions to industry problems.

Internship Opportunity
The VEC is looking to recruit passionate and enthusiastic students for a summer internship opportunity. We are looking for students who are interested in:

  • Coding
  • Video Game Development
  • VR, MR and XR Visualisation
  • Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) such as HoloLens, HTC Vive and Varjo

Interns will work with our friendly multidisciplinary teams, delivering exciting projects across multiple industries, and working with many established companies whilst getting hands-on with emerging digital tools and technologies.

You will be able to use existing and newly developed skills that are sought by industry, adapting popular software like Unity and Unreal Engine for developing new products and delivering digital projects that you’ll be able to include in your portfolio.

The VEC internship is a fantastic opportunity for a budding student to gain valuable experience within a real working environment, applying learnt skills to action. You will be able to work across our two world-class facilities in Daresbury and the new Digital Innovation Facility (DIF) in the heart of the University of Liverpool campus.
