The VEC is going through an exciting period of growth this year.

With the establishment of our new Institute for Digital Engineering and Autonomous Systems and our continued work supporting city-region SMEs on industrial digitisation, we are looking for someone to join our team.

 

Immersive Visualisation Specialist

You will support the development of translational research and client-based projects, along with the provision of support for partner entities and organisations, nationally and internationally.

Working in a team you will identify opportunities for the development of impactful collaborative research projects and act as a mentor to internal staff and external partners regarding the development and continuous improvement of their business and operations who have a range of backgrounds including industrial design, materials science, architecture, urban planning and others. You should have a Degree in science, engineering or closely related subject.

Complex Systems Specialist

You will support the development of translational research and client based projects, along with the provision of support for partner entities and organisations, nationally and internationally.

You should have a Degree in science, engineering or closely related subject and have significant experience within the field of Model Based Systems Engineering and be comfortable with working on collaborative research project with industrial partners.

You will work closely with other colleagues to identify opportunities for the development of impactful collaborative research projects and act as a mentor to internal staff and external partners regarding the development and continuous improvement of their business and operations who have a range of backgrounds including industrial design, architecture, urban planning and others.

Project Engineers

We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our team in the role of Project Engineer. You will be motivated and able to contribute to the development of capability in Virtual Engineering and support the growth of the Centre and deliver key funded projects including ERDF project such as LCR4 START. You will join a multidisciplinary team focusing on:

  • Design optimisation, manufacture and assembly, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics
  • Data Analytics and machines learning
  • Systems architecture for distribution simulation
  • Control and simulation, software and synthetic environments development
  • Immersive technologies development
  • Industrial digitalisation

You should have a Masters Degree in Engineering (or relevant professional experience), substantial experience in at least one of the following areas: IoT and systems development and integration; Developing Cyber Security solutions; One of the many computer-aided engineering disciplines of the VEC, e.g. CFD, FEA, CAD, MSB, crash/safety, optimisation, factory simulation, and the use of multi-core clusters, integration with CAD, and multi-physics solutions; Software development and the use of simulation and visualisation in support of engineering decisions. Industrial Digitalisation Team Leader

To support the development of transitional research and client based projects, along with the provision of support for partner entities and organisations, nationally and internationally.

Working closely with the wider team to identify opportunities for the development of impactful collaborative research projects and manage internal staff in the development and implementation of transformation digital technologies projects with external partners who have a range of backgrounds including industrial design, manufacturing, architecture, construction and others.

You should have a PhD or relevant industrial experience in Engineering, Computer Science or closely related subjects.
