The VEC is located in the scientific facility of Daresbury Laboratory, Sci Tech Daresbury, Cheshire.

VEC @ Liverpool sits within the University's of Liverpool's IDEAS (Institute of Digital Engineering and Autonomous Systems.) Our campus presence allows us to work closely with our academic links from the University of Liverpool and work with students across a range of disciplines to enhance their studies through learning and digital technologies.

VEC @ China XJTLU is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, China’s equivalent of Silicon Valley and a hub of global innovation.

The Future

Digital Innovation Facility

The Digital Innovation Facility was officially open on 23rd May 2022 as a world-class centre of expertise to enable collaborative R&D between businesses and academia.

The new £12m Digital Innovation Facility (DIF), funded by the University and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority will provide an avenue of support, access to state of the art equipment and incubation space to businesses linked to the exploitation of digital technologies based in Liverpool.

Together, the VEC and the DIF sit within the University of Liverpool’s IDEAS (Institute of Digital Engineering and Autonomous Systems.) This facility supports further access to physical assets and businesses networks, enabling more collaboration. The Virtual Engineering Centre have a strong connection to the centre, bringing together complementary areas of research in computer science, robotics, and engineering with businesses looking to innovate for impact.
