Hartree Director appointed as visiting professor

The University of Liverpool has announced the appointment of Cliff Brereton, Director of the Hartree Centre (UK), Sci-Tech Daresbury, as a new visiting Professor at the University.
Cliff leads the Hartree Centre, created to deliver economic impact to UK Industry and commerce, through the use of advanced simulation and modelling in product design and R&D. Prior to Cliff commencing his role at the Hartree Centre, he spent over 19 years at IBM in the management and delivery of high value client facing projects within their Enterprise and Scientific Products and Services Divisions.
The Hartree Centre was opened by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 1st February 2013 and is a division within the Science and Technologies Facilities Council (STFC).
From its inception, the Hartree Centre has been supported by the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC), the technology exploitation division of the School of Engineering based at the Daresbury Campus. The expertise and capabilities available through this unique partnership, has enabled industrial organisations across a wide range of sectors to access the potential of cutting-edge high performance computing, big data analytics and advanced visualisation to improve product and process design and increase competitiveness.
The VEC and Hartree Centre have recently announced their next phase of the partnership and have a wide range of joint activities planned across 2015-16.
