Automated Inspection Technology Systems in Glass Plants

Date: Wednesday 22 February 2017

Location: University of Liverpool, Department of Electrical Engineering & Electronics Brownlow Hill, Liverpool

Lecture by Simon Aldred, Senior Technologist, NSG Technical Centre

Glass is an important material with a wide range of applications such as TV displays, solar cells and architecture. In order to ensure that our glass meets the customer’s high quality standards it is necessary to inspect it in real time on the production line. As the requirements of this task are beyond the capability of humans we must develop and install automated inspection systems to achieve our quality objectives. Many of these systems are based on machine vision technology and we will be looking at how this is implemented in our float and automotive factories around the world.
