The experts

The VEC comprises a multi-disciplinary team including specialists in engineering, computer science, visualisation and manufacturing technology, and is underpinned by the University of Liverpool and specialist Centres of Excellence. Located at both Sci-Tech Daresbury and The University of Liverpool the VEC acts as a hub in communicating research back to potential end users.

Collaboration: networks and academia

A University of Liverpool, School of Engineering led initiative, the VEC was catalysed by funding from the ERDF and the former Northwest Regional Development Agency and is located at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) laboratory at Daresbury as well as the Engineering Building at the University of Liverpool. The VEC thrives upon strong collaborative partnership with organisations such as STFC's Hartree Centre, home of one of the UK's fastest supercomputers, enabling us to harness the power of HPC for the benefit of our clients.

In addition the VEC has strong working relationships with industry bodies such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Institution of Chemical Engineers and takes part in specific Continuing Professional Development programmes and key speaker presentations at industry body annual events such as the IET Celebration of Engineering, Euro VR, SAE AR/VR Annual Symposium and the Advanced Engineering Show.
